Today is an important day for me! It was five years ago that I began treatment for breast cancer and I want to sing to the world that I am happy to be free & alive..........

What I've been up to...Playing with Beeswax

I had this idea to paint my daughter and her friends at her dance studio.  First I drew a sketch then began playing with this idea.  I sketched the girls on canvas board and added collage elements and lots of layers.  I tried two new mediums on this painting:  Pearlescent liquid acrylic by daler-rowney and beeswax.  Here's my project....

It's been a busy month....

I can't believe June is almost over! I have been busy winding down the school year. My twins are 'Moving Up' tonight which means they are graduating from middle school. I have been making art, thugh, and working in my art journal. Here is what I've been up to. This is a painting I just finished, "Fairy Godmother, watch over me and my Cat." Let me know what you think....I'll be posting art journal pages shortly. I am working on Lesson 3,  part one of Artistic Alchemy, been collaging and exploring self....

Tomorrow is the last day of school, I am a teacher, and I am looking forward to spending more time journaling.

New favorite blog site...

I came across this blog site by Keri Smith called The Wish Jar. I instantlyly tuned into her personal style and the books she authors, such as Wreck this Journal. They are interactive and FUN..FUN...FUN... I am going to put them on my wish list. The non-planner is my first choice

I have been journaling regularly.  My favorite piece right now is the 'Defining Me' page.  It is also a work in progress as I have been defining and re-defining myself these past five (5) five! years since treatment began for breast cancer in July of 2003.  I think I'll work on the next page today as I have had some reconstructive surgery 3 weeks ago and the image of myself has changed, both internally as well as externally.  

The only thing constant in life is change and if you're not changing...you're not growing.

It has taken me a while to find my groove but I think I've got it.  Art makes me happy, my journal has become my happy place, my refuge.  In December I committed to making art every day and so far I've ben pretty consistent.  Now I have to commit to blogging on a regular basis.  Anyway, here are some of pages....
